Packaging associates are required to perform a wide range of duties. These duties include but are not limited to unloading empty drums from trailers, labeling empty containers before filling, setting up and breaking down filling stations (moving hoses, nozzles, scales), calibrating scales prior to use, filling containers with material from both railcars and tanker trucks, recording information on filling reports and cleaning/organization of work area. Packaging associates may also be asked to perform general labor tasks as deemed necessary by a coordinator, supervisor or manager.
Packaging Associates should expect to spend an extended amount of time standing while packaging material. Walking back and forth to the packaging area and to the workstations are required. Being able to lift/push/pull/carry 50 Lbs. is a must and is most frequently done when performing drum loads (handling empty drums) and transporting scales and hoses/nozzles between filling stations. Climbing ladders on the railcars/trucks/push ladder will be required throughout the packaging process, especially when hooking up or breaking down railcars and tankers. Kneeling and crouching are a small part of the job that may be needed in some parts of the packaging process.
